Clinical Psychologist in St Leonards

A psychology practice for adults

Katherine Watson - Clinical Psychologist

Life can throw you challenges that can sometimes feel overwhelming. Whether you are managing anxiety (perfectionism, social anxiety, phobias, panic, performance and health anxiety), navigating your way through life transitions (changes in work, relationships, or physical health), dealing with a bereavement or other grief and loss or learning about your neurodivergent identity, I'm here to support your growth through these challenges, and getting back to thriving and flourishing.

I believe in creating a warm, supportive and inclusive environment where you can feel heard and encouraged to explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences. Together we will work using an approach based in best practice and tailored for your unique circumstances.  Therapies I use include:

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).  Whichever types of therapy we draw on, mindfulness is at the core of my work with clients.

My particular areas of clinical interest include; managing the impact of physical health conditions on mental health (e.g. loss of activity through sporting injuries, perimenopause/menopause, diabetes, endometriosis, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, cancer), and working with clients who are neurodivergent (particularly Autistic &/or ADHDers), especially those who are diagnosed/self-diagnosed as adults.

Reach out today to schedule your initial consultation. Let's embark on this journey together.

Please note: I do not see clients for medico-legal services, drug and alcohol issues or under WorkCover.

Services Available

Individual therapy and group sessions

Depending on each client's presentation, individual sessions will be scheduled weekly or fortnightly. We know that regular, consistent therapy is likely to produce the best results for people so a committment to the process is important.

Mindfulness group programs are held over 8 consecutive weeks, with a full day of practice usually held between weeks 6 and 7.  There is the option of a follow-up session approximately 1 month after the eighth session.

I have a 15 year personal practice of mindfulness and have taught mindfulness to many individual clients.  I have also facilitated Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) groups for people affected by cancer, and for Mindful Parenting.

Please complete the contact form if you would like to discuss options for individual or group therapy.
